Cyanoni: Web Accessibility Auditing & Design

Web site maintenance

If you already have a Web site, but don’t have the time, inclination or know-how to update it yourself, a maintenance contract can be arranged.

Maintenance could be anything from updating product details and prices to adding new pages.

The importance of fresh content

Many companies make the mistake of investing in a Web site and then letting it stagnate, as if it’s a kind of digital brochure. But without fresh content, why would anyone ever return?

Your Web site can be an asset of real value for your company if it’s maintained.

Feed the search engine spiders

Search engines not only like fresh content — they depend on it. And they reward sites that provide it with high search rankings. Sites that achieve high rankings get more visitors. And fresh content will keep visitors returning.

But, the opposite is also true: A stagnant site will slowly slip down the rankings. There’s no reason for search engine spiders or for people to return if there’s no new content.

So, it’s in your best interests to update your site regularly.

What you see ain’t what you get

If you don’t have the technical skills to update your site you may be tempted to use a “drag and drop” WYSIWYG visual Web page editor.

While these tools may be relatively easy to use, the code they produce is nothing short of appalling. They can quickly make a pig’s ear of standards-compliant, accessible Web site.

Quality

All the Web sites I design and develop are standards-compliant, accessible and search engine friendly. The same attention to detail and use of best practices will be applied when updating and maintaining your site.

If your site is standards-compliant and accessible, it’ll stay that way.

What’s the damage, squire?

Maintenance fees are £30 per hour, charged by the half hour.

A discounted rate can be arranged if you require lots of regular updates.
